Clare Comhairle na nÓg

Clare Comhairle na nÓg

Based in the Carmody street youth centre and is open to all young people in the county
Comhairle na nÓg are youth councils in the 31 local authorities of the country, which give children and young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies.

What do we do?

In light of the fact that Comhairle na nÓg is for young people under the age of 18 and who therefore have no other voting mechanism to have their voice heard, Comhairle na nÓg is designed to enable young people to have a voice on the services, policies and issues that affect them in their local area.

The work of Clare Comhairle na nÓg  is overseen by Clare County Council who have engaged Clare Youth Service to support the group on a day to day basis.

The young people in Clare Comhairle are currently working on the topics of

  • Schools Stress
  • Discrimination
  • Period Poverty
  • Positive Mental Health

The group have worked on several interesting projects over the years including:

  • Alternative Sports
  • Mental Health
  • Cyber Safety and Discrimination
  • Visited the Icelandic Youth Parliament
